Weather: Hazy to start with then sunny

Scarborough

From the terrace of Oliver's Mount Restaurant you get this lovely view of South Bay, Scarborough
- unfortunately, at this time of day the weather conditions were very hazy

Included on the menu is 'High Tea - served at 500ft 11¾inches above sea level' !!!

.

There are more superb views of Scarborough town from the nearby War Memorial on Oliver's Mount

Down below Oliver's Mount is The Mere . . .

. . . where there are lovely walks and a water skiing school

After parking the car on South Cliff we wander down towards the sea front promenade at South Bay

Scarborough Castle is prominent on the hill with the harbour below on the far right

.

Seafood stalls line parts of the prom near the harbour - personally, I'm not that keen on any of it!

.

I don't mind a stick of Scarborough Rock though . . .

.

This is what happens when you try to eat an ice-cream with one hand and take photos with the other . . .
. . . serves me right!

By now the sun was shining, but the beach was quiet . . .

..

. . . even the donkeys were ready for home

I wonder if whoever built the sand castle was inspired by the real thing in the distance?

It might not be Miami or Bondi Beach but us Brits know how to make the best of it!

Strolling back along the sands towards South Cliff with the Spa buildings prominent in the centre of the photo

One of Scarborough's famous 'open-topped' buses - get wrapped up if you decide to take a ride on top

.

I remember there was often an organist played here and people sat and listened in rows of multi-coloured deck chairs . . .

Max Jaffa's music concerts attracted large audiences at the Spa for many years

A final look back to South Bay before the steep climb back up to the car
