A Bit of Fun in Scarborough
It's poured down
all week, but today's fair - not brilliant but better. The
weekend's arrived, perfect for a day out
to the seaside at Scarborough - there's sure to be lots of people out and about relaxing and enjoying
the parks and promenades and taking in the bracing sea air - why don't we go and join them . . .
It's a bit quiet up this end - let's go where it's a bit livelier !!
Peasholm Park - I bet there are crowds in here enjoying the boating lake and spring flower displays.
Well, nobody's bothering with the rowing boats, maybe they can't find the oars - the ducks seem happy though . . .
. . . and the swans have wintered really well.
Maybe all the
crowds have grabbed their seats ready for the naval battle
(you'll know what I mean if you've been)
No, no-one here either - where is everybody?
Didn't expect anyone here at the outdoor pool - too cold - just thought we'd have a look though.
I know! Someone mentioned there's a cricket match on at the Scarborough ground, that's where they'll all be . . .
Oh dear . . . where next? Let's go have a look from the Valley Bridge . . .
At last - signs of
a bit of life - we must be getting closer
. . . perhaps they're still in their hotel rooms or maybe down on the prom . . .
..................No-one on the new open-topped bus . . . ............................ . . one or two brave souls prefer the old one
........................( can't even see a driver ) ...................................(the tide's in - they' re going to get wet round the headland)
Now we're getting somewhere - there's a few outside Jimmy Corrigan's amusement arcade.
Strange ? . . . no
queues for the best ice-cream in the world at Pacitto's and
Jaconelli's . . .
perhaps at this time of the year a little seafood snack is more tempting . . .
Oh well . . . at least I bet I know where the kids will be . . .
Ye-e-e-s!! I could have guaranteed it, such great fun . . . but still, where are all the mams and dads?
There's only one more place they could possibly be . . . SURELY NOT on the first day of the week it hasn't poured down . . .
I might have guessed - what a lot of sad shopaholics we are nowadays - wish I was a kid again on the donkeys!
Just a bit of fun !
Hope the pix have brought back a few memories to those of you
who haven't been to Scarborough for a few years - especially to all the 'ex-pats' around the world
