Sedgefield, Co. Durham - 'A Day at the Races'

Welcome to Sedgefield Races as the first of the runners are saddled up

The horses parade in front of the spectators before the race
Trainer and jockey discuss tactics . . .

. . . now it's up to the horse

The parade ring is empty, the horses have gone down to the start - it's now time to 'place your bets'

The bookmakers look a bit worried - does someone know something they don't ?
It's too late now - they're off and the punters can only cross their fingers and hope

The runners race round the first bend . .
. . . and disappear into the back straight

There's only one way to keep an eye on your selection for now . . .

. . . and a few hearts start to beat faster as the horses approach the final bend . . .

. . . and jump the last hurdle

Now it's a battle up the final hill to the line

To a great cheer from the crowd, the 'favourite' comes with a late run and wins the race - and we all go home happy
